We’re in the Forest of Dean, again
House-sitting for my brother.
A beautiful, idyllic place
Far from a world of bother.

But what is this…
An egg-bound hen?
(forlorn and seemingly spent)
So syringe in hand,
I take command and oil her laying vent.

She’s now resting in the hen-house
And here I am writing this ditty
But ‘Ye gods and little fishes’
Ugh! I’m feeling oh so shitty.

I’m crawling with red dust mites
On my clothes and in my hair
My reward for taking pity!
But, as usual life’s not fair.

Take advise from me, my friends
And never touch a chicken.
Well… that is…. unless…of course
It’s deliciously finger-lickin’
Damn it Captain, you found my weak spot……….advise/advice…I never get it write (sic) Ta

The test of the tale is not the chicken
Nor in the mites so fowl…er foul
For the story ends…as does the bird
With the taste, the smell, and the lickin’.
